Mardi Gras Glam
Genesis Young Leaders hit it big with first-ever Masquerade fundraising gala
The Dallas YP social set headed across the bridge to 3015 at Trinity Groves for the first-ever Genesis Young Leaders Masquerade. Event co-chairs Kamela Hollis and Amanda Reynolds had the space transformed with festive purple, green and gold Mardi Gras colors, accented with arrangements by Garden Gate floral.
With craft cocktails from Standard Pour in hand, partygoers — dressed in masks, party beads and cocktail attire — perused the raffle items, played blackjack and tossed dice at the roulette tables. After table games, guests kept the dance floor rockin’ with tunes from Signed Sealed Delivered. Attendees stayed sated with traditional New Orleans fare whipped up by chef Sharon Van Meter, including shrimp Louis salad and gumbo over rice.
Luke Coffee led a rousing live auction, raising more than $7,500 on just three items, including a stay at Hotel ZaZa, a group dinner at Sissy’s Southern Kitchen and a UT football package. Coupled with the casino games and raffle sales, the first-year party raised $80,000 for Genesis Women’s Shelter.
Spotted on the YP scene: Heather and Mark LeClair, Marybeth and Kevin Conlon, Ashley and Matt Kellogg, Whitney and Preston Zapffe, Jeff Sears, Peter Crow, Abby and Drew Evans, Jessica Killough, Kenneth Aboussie, Ben Rathjen, Susannah Moore, and Wren and Benji Homsey.
