Dan Rees draws artists and collectors to Goss-Michael Foundation
We expected — and were delighted — to spot Dallas Art Fair co-founder John Sughrue, avid arts supporters Barbara and Don Daseke and Claire and Dwight Emanuelson, and Dallas Contemporary executive director Peter Doroshenko at the opening reception of the Dan Rees exhibition at Goss-Michael Foundation.
But we were more elated to see contemporary artist K8 Hardy and fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck supporting their fellow creative Rees, the first resident artist at Goss-Michael. While the British-born boundary pusher is in Dallas, he is creating original works for the foundation.
Throughout the evening, admirers — including Jessica Nowitzki, Kary Brittingham, Joan Davidow, Ken Downing, Sam Saladino, Christen and Derek Wilson, Joyce Goss, Kenny Goss, Aphrodite Gonou, Anais Assoun, Gregg Asher, David Martin, — sipped on beer and wine, perused the works and chatted with Rees himself.
If you weren’t among the elite at this meet-and-greet, you can see Rees’ works Tuesday through Saturday through July 27 at the Goss-Michael Foundation.
