Dwell with Dignity opens Thrift Studio with bubbly-filled fete
To open Dwell with Dignity's spring Thrift Studio, founder Lisa Robison hosted a festive fete among the room vignettes. The 30-day pop-up shop supports the organization's mission to provide homes to the homeless.
The Thrift Studio concept is so unique that Susan Feldman, co-founder of title sponsor One Kings Lane, had to see it for herself.
Design enthusiasts —including Dwell with Dignity vice president and director Kim Turner, Carmaleta Whiteley, Barbara Daseke, James Shackelford, Heather Cope, Dana Videl, Amy and Rob Lee, Shay and Brian Geyer, Leslie and Jason Needleman, Abbe Fenimore, and Keith Schumann — headed to the Design District for first looks at the fabulous furniture and decor.
The gently used furnishings include pieces from One Kings Lane, Horchow, DJ Lucy Wrubel for Peacock Alley, IBB Design Fine Furnishings, Square Foot Studio, Studio Ten 25 and William Christopher Design. Everything is set up as ready-to-live-in rooms.
“Everyone had a great time, and we are heartened from all the support provided by One Kings Lane and many others in the design community,” Robison said. “Through their support, we are going to be able to bring beauty to the homes of many more families this year.”
This year, One Kings Lane also held a 72-hour Tastemaker Tag Sale, and 100 percent of those proceeds benefited Dwell with Dignity.
With champagne flutes in hand and DJ Lucy Wrubel's beats in the background, guests mingled and moved around beds, sofas, side tables and other eclectic decor and vowed to return to Thrift Studio for a serious shopping excursion.
