Mad Men designer aims for contemporary look with new collaboration
The series Mad Men may be over, but the hit show's much-lauded costume designer isn't finished yet. Janie Bryant, the Emmy Award-winning designer who put together all those cool '60s clothes, has created a limited-edition capsule collection with Black Halo designer Laurel Berman.
“I'm a huge Mad Men fan, and there’s such a connection with our brand in the sense that we are classic, with a lot of pencil dresses,” Berman told Women's Wear Daily.
The 25-piece Janie Bryant for Black Halo collection features the brand's signature figure-hugging dresses, along with lace jumpsuits, sleek crop tops, pencil skirts and slacks in Bryan's signature patterned and textured fabrics in rich colors. Among the standouts are a crop top with full skirt in a rich floral jacquard, a light blue floral-embossed Neoprene sheath dress, and floral slacks and matching strapless peplum top.
The collection, available online at Saks Fifth Avenue, ranges from $300-$500. Berman and Bryant recently celebrated the launch at a Hollywood party with guests that included actress Garcelle Beauvais and Boardwalk Empire co-star Meg Steedle.
