Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and crowdSPRING co-founder Ross Kimbarovsky gathered fans and members of the media to show off the winner of the 2015-16 jersey contest, designed by Dallas native Geoff Case. His design features the predominant Dallas skyline — not unlike OutlineTheSky — and he got $1,000 on behalf of crowdSPRING and 2015-16 season tickets on behalf of the Mavericks.
“The creativity of Mavs fans is amazing,” said Cuban. “We want to thank everyone who submitted a design, and we look forward to seeing the skyline-adorned across Mavs jerseys in 2015-16.”
Cuban launched the jersey contest in May 2013 on Blogmaverick.com. He received more than 1,000 entries, 772 coming from crowdSPRING, a marketplace for custom logo design and web design. He whittled down the entries to 10 finalists.
Then Mavs fans across the country weighed in by casting votes online. Case’s skyline design was the runaway favorite.
New merchandise featuring the skyline design is available at The Hangar-Victory Park, a new 2,800-square-foot stand-alone retail shop in AT&T Plaza that offers Dallas Stars and Dallas Mavericks branded merchandise and collectibles, customized jerseys, footwear, and outerwear. It is the first-of-its-kind venture between the Stars and Mavs, and it is open seven days a week from 10 am-5 pm.
In addition to the opening of the store in Victory Plaza, four updated and renovated spaces in American Airlines Center are also collectively now known as The Hangar.
Dallas-area sports fans can now shop the largest selection of Stars and Mavericks merch on the market right at the arena, featuring brands such as Reebok, 47 Brand, Yums, Lucchese, Levelwear, New Era, Old Time Hockey and Zephyr.
As for the jersey itself? You’ll have to wait a bit longer, because it won’t be rolled out to the public until summer 2015.
Geoff Case received $1,000 and Mavs 2015-16 season tickets for his efforts.
