Pretty young Texans swarm the Ritz for Bubbly Q cancer-fighting fete
Young Texans Against Cancer welcomed nearly 500 of the city’s loveliest young philanthropists to the Ritz-Carlton, Dallas for the sixth annual Bubbly Q. The sizzling fundraiser overflowed with champagne and dishes from the best restaurants in Dallas.
Celebrity chef Dean Fearing worked the room flawlessly, declaring the must-eats to eager attendees. Among his favorites were Five Sixty’s spicy tuna tartare-miso cones and Abraham Salum’s chorizo and potato croquettes. Fearing couldn’t get enough of Salum’s salsa — and, honestly, neither could we.
To their credit, all the restaurants — Boulevardier, Pappas Bros. Steakhouse, Nobu and Lockhart Smokehouse, among them — brought their A game. But we expected nothing less. They wouldn’t dare bring anything but the best to Fearing’s turf.
With hand-crafted cocktails from Eddie “Lucky” Campbell in hand, well-heeled guests — including Jack Perkins, Jayne Herring, Jenifer Strauss, , Erin and Rhett Butler, , — made the rounds and tried their luck in the silent auction, where items up for grabs included hotel stays, jewelry and other unforgettable experiences.
When all the savories had been explored, it was time for something sweet, and Dallas favorites like Kate Weiser Chocolate, Paciugo, Tiff’s Treats and Oh Browie didn’t disappoint with their selection of top-notch desserts. Throughout the night, Jose G kept the patio bumping with lively beats.
YTAC president Catharine Flagg declared the evening a success, raising $132,000 to be distributed to its beneficiaries. Founded in Houston, with chapters in Dallas, Austin and San Antonio, Young Texans Against Cancer aims to raise cancer awareness among 22- to 45-year-olds.
