It was a law school romance for Dee Wallander and Matthew Rindt. The couple met in 2012 during orientation at Texas Tech School of Law, and Dee “was smitten from the start.”
After a year-and-a-half of making small talk between classes and sitting together in the library, Matthew worked up the nerve to ask Dee out.
“From our first date on January 26, 2014 onward, my life was forever changed,” says Matthew. “I remember calling my mom that next day and exclaiming how it was the best date I had ever been on. I had never felt more at peace with another woman in my life. I’ve had those same feelings toward her every day since.”
Two years later, Matthew was ready to put a ring on it. With a picturesque backdrop, courtesy of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, he dropped to his knee and presented a stunning diamond ring. Dee was screaming yes at the top of her lungs when her sister, Becky, popped out with a bottle of bubbly.
“It was the sweetest moment of my life thus far,” she says.
When the couple returned home, family and friends were waiting, and a weekend-long celebration ensued.
The time Dee had long fantasized about had finally arrived — and the bride-to-be knew exactly what she wanted.
“Like most girls, I dreamed of the day I’d get married and started my Pinterest board in college,” she says. “You could look at my board from college and eight years later, when we were planning our wedding, not much had changed.”
A Pinterest board brought to life, their May 2017 wedding featured a blush and gold color palette with personalized details and the couple’s logo incorporated throughout.
Following a wedding mass at Christ the King Catholic Church, 300 of the couple’s closest friends and family gathered at the Ritz-Carlton Dallas for a reception chock full of the “wow factor” Dee was hoping for.
The couple relied on florals, draping and custom lighting to put their own spin on the space. And peonies, Dee’s favorite flower, adorned the space, especially impactful as a flower wall housing escort cards.
After cutting the cake, noshing on elevated comfort food, and dancing until well past midnight, the couple bid adieu surrounded by sparklers. Their parting gift to guests? Late-night pizza passed with ranch, a pairing as Texan as the couple themselves.
“More than anything, I wanted everyone to feel loved and to have the most fun time ever,” says Dee.
Mission accomplished, with a little help from Pinterest.
