Blues, Bandits & BBQ at Kidd Springs Park
This two-day festival features 30 barbecue teams showcasing the best food they have to offer. Barbecue tasting tickets start at $20, and doors open at 6 pm on Friday, and noon on Saturday.

33rd Annual French-American Chamber of Commerce Wine Festival at Frontiers of Flight Museum
Formerly the Beaujolais & Beyond Wine Festival, this rebranded event features a new name and new venue but the same great collection of French and American wines. Guests can also enjoy savory and sweet delicacies from some of the top restaurants and gourmet food providers in Dallas-Fort Worth. Other highlights include live music from Rockestra, photo opportunities and autographs from Miss Texas 2016, and a silent auction. Tickets start at $75, and the event kicks off at 7:30 pm.

    Saturday, November 12

    Untapped at Fair Park
This is the fifth year for the popular craft beer and music festival featuring more than 100 breweries and 400-plus craft beers. Festival-goers can also enjoy live music from local and national bands, snack on delicious food from local restaurants, and peruse a village of crafty vendors. Tickets start at $35, and general admission gates open at 3:30 pm.

    Monday, November 14

The Barman’s Fund Night for Dallas CASA at Top Knot
Brian Floyd of the Barman’s Fund is once again joining the Top Knot team for a great cause. He’s mixing up four specialty cocktails, and all tips from 8-11 pm benefit Dallas CASA. Guests can also enjoy chef de cuisine Angela Hernandez’s Korean fried chicken as part of the “Seoul Food” series that happens every Sunday and Monday.

School of Bourbon at the Venue at 400 North Ervay
At this interactive tasting, pair Woodford Reserve with some of your favorite foods — aged cheese, toasted nuts, citrus fruit, dark chocolate, dried cranberries — to train your palate to identify the flavors in every sip. Tickets are $30, and the event starts at 6:30 pm.

    Sicilian Wine Dinner at Americano
This special wine dinner features Cantine Barbera, a winery in southwestern Sicily. The evening takes place on the restaurant’s open-air patio and begins at 7 pm with a welcome reception, followed by a seated Sicilian-inspired five-course dinner from executive chef Matt Ford. Courses include assorted meats and cheeses, tuna crudo, pasta with fresh prawns, assorted pizzas, lamb shoulder, and sheep’s milk ricotta cannolis. Tickets are $80; call 214-261-4600 for reservations.

On November 13, enjoy Korean fried chicken and cocktails for a cause at Top Knot.

Downtown Dallas restaurant Sauvage expands with new dining twist

A downtown Dallas restaurant famous for its multi-course tasting experience is letting its hair down: Sauvage, the high-end mom-and-pop restaurant near the Statler Dallas hotel, has a new dining option that gives a smaller, more casual taste.

The restaurant opened in September with a set menu featuring 16 to 18 courses — wild game, seafood, vegetables, and dessert — all cooked via grill and smoker.

While 16 courses might sound like a lot, the courses are mostly small bites. However, owners Casey and Amy LaRue received feedback from diners wanting a smaller option.

"We were getting a ton of messages from guests who want to stop by just to try one dish, a bite, or a specific pairing without committing to the full tasting — so we built something for exactly that," Casey says.

They've introduced a new three-course "Cocktails & Bites hour" featuring three dishes, each paired with its own cocktail, served from 5–6 pm on weekdays.

    Last week’s menu consisted of:

    • dry-aged red snapper crudo with La Chinola Way, a cocktail featuring passionfruit, mezcal, lime, and ginger
    • foie gras & truffle on house-baked croissant with Pendennis Club, a gin sour with apricot liqueur bitters
    • jerk-spiced shrimp with Clarified Paper Plane, a bourbon cocktail with Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and lemon juice

The new offering continues their pattern of pairing courses with cocktails rather than wine — an approach they've embraced since opening. "Limiting pairings to wine can get boring — it so often ends up being one expensive red after another," Casey says.

You can make a reservation on Tock, or just walk in and grab a seat.

    Caviar
They've also added a new version of their classic menu: no caviar.

"Some love having caviar integrated into the menu, but others prefer to skip it, whether for taste or dietary reasons, but still want the full value of the experience," Casey says. "With such a small counter, this put us in a strange position: do we give everyone caviar whether they want it or not, or do we remove it entirely and lose a core part of our menu?"

Thus, a new menu without caviar, priced at $195, with an optional caviar course available for those who want it for $245.
