Texas Ballet Theater's 2020-2021 season will stage four world premieres, in addition to favorite features and family-friendly works.

And, as a resident company of both Winspear Opera House and Bass Performance Hall, the company will perform in both Dallas and Fort Worth. There are two chances to see many of the productions — but not all of them.

Here's a closer look at the season, which the company announced on March 6.

Lew Christensen’s Beauty and the Beast opens the season, running September 11-13 in Dallas and October 2-4 in Fort Worth.

Holiday favorite, artistic director Ben Stevenson's The Nutcracker, has a run November 27-29 and December 4-6 at Winspear Opera House. Then it loads into Fort Worth's Bass Hall for performances that span the Christmas holidays, December 11-27.

The Nutty Nutcracker, the company’s irreverent, pop culture-filled take on the holiday classic, gets just one performance, at Bass Hall on December 18. (And it usually sells out.)

The company will perform its first mixed repertoire production February 5-7, 2021, at Bass Hall. The program will include George Balanchine’s Serenade, the world premiere of Ben Stevenson's Star Crossed, and the world premiere of a piece by TBT associate artistic director Tim O’Keefe, to be announced.

The second mixed repertoire will run March 5-7, 2021. It will take place at Bass Hall and feature the world premiere of company dancer Carl Coomer’s Scorpio Moon, Alexei Ratmansky’s Seven Sonatas, and the world premiere of a piece by Fei Bo, resident choreographer of the National Ballet of China, to be announced.

The final production takes place in May 2021, and will be announced during a special event in Dallas later this spring, the company says. It will be staged at Winspear Opera House May 14-16, 2021, and at Bass Performance Hall May 21-23, 2021.
