Be the Match
Dallas-Fort Worth theater community directs cabaret spotlight for good
When the going gets tough, theater people put on a show. This time it's to help local actor and award-winning makeup and wig designer Michael B. Moore, who is facing a recurrence of stage 4 follicular lymphoma.
Moore was first diagnosed three years ago and thought his cancer was in remission, but during a recent check-up learned it had returned. He's now searching for a bone marrow transplant match through Be The Match, a nonprofit operated by the National Marrow Donor Program that manages the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world.
To help him find one and to raise funds for his medical bills and other costs, local company Rooftop Productions is hosting a benefit cabaret on June 14 in Moore's honor.
The late-night show will begin at 11:15 pm and be held at Pocket Sandwich Theatre on Mockingbird Lane. All proceeds and donations will go directly to Moore.
Not only will area singers, dancers, and burlesque performers take the stage, but Be The Match representatives will be on-site to register donors and complete swab kits.
The $15 tickets are available here and are expected to sell out. The cabaret will be live-streamed from Rooftop Productions' Facebook page for those who are unable to attend.
