Welcome SoulCycle
Celebrity-endorsed fitness phenomenon finally pedals into Dallas
It seems like North Texans really, really love to cycle. In addition to studios such as Terlingo, FlyWheel, and and Zyn22 (which just announced it's expanding to four locations in Dallas-Fort Worth), celebrity favorite SoulCycle is opening one of two Texas locations in Dallas' Preston Center this spring.
Houston technically gets the first, which is slated to open in April at 2549 Kirby Dr., in the River Oaks/Upper Kirby area. Dallas follows with a studio at 5944 W. Northwest Hwy., opening later in the spring. It will be a massive 3,700 square feet, with 60 bikes, an expansive lifestyle boutique selling SoulCycle's branded clothing line, and swanky locker rooms.
Known for its club-like lighting, pulsing music, and celeb sightings — first lady Michelle Obama, Bradley Cooper, Madonna, and Lady Gaga are all devotees — SoulCycle promises an "emotional journey that runs parallel to the physical workout." Earlier this year, SoulCycle teased Houston with a three-day preview of its intense classes.
Classes typically cost $30 for 45 minutes, but there are longer, more intense classes also available, as well as classes for teens.
SoulCycle currently has 56 locations nationwide, the majority in New York and Los Angeles, but this is the company's first foray into Texas. More studios are expected to open in 2016, including the first international location in London.
