Frisco police say 16-year-old admitted to killing his parents
Frisco police have released new information about the murders of husband and wife Ryan and Maria Elena Callens. Around 2 am on August 11, police responded to a 911 call for shots fired at 12451 Shepherds Hill Ln. According to the officers, the couple's 16-year-old son was in the front yard with his older sister when he reportedly said, "I did it."
Inside the home, police found 48-year-old Ryan on the floor with a gunshot wound. A rifle was located near the body, and the gun had a flashlight taped to it. Maria Elena, 49, was "lying in bed with gunshots to her body." No one else at the home was harmed.
Because of his age, police are not releasing the name of the 16-year-old shooter. The suspect was one of five children and was reportedly home-schooled. He has been charged with two counts of murder and is being held without bond at the Collin County Juvenile Detention Center.
As they continue their investigation, Frisco police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 972-292-6010.
