Dallas coworking company Common Desk extends its tentacles to Addison

Dallas' pioneering coworking company Common Desk is opening a new office, this time in a town best known for restaurants: Addison.

Called Common Desk – Addison, it'll be a 26,500-square-foot two-story coworking space that's actually officially North Dallas but is Addison adjacent, in a new development off Dallas North Tollway and Landmark Boulevard.

According to a release, it's scheduled to open in spring 2019.

The development has the unfortunate name FOURTEEN5, which not only has the odious all caps — honey, we don't do all caps — but also spells out "14." Everyone knows you spell out numbers that are below 10 and go with digits above 10. Why not 14five?

This will be Common Desk's seventh location, following its recently announced sixth location in the Innovation District of the West End neighborhood with Common Desk – Factory Six03.

Common Desk CEO Nick Clark says they've received many requests to bring Common Desk to the Lower Tollway/Addison area over the years, and also uses the words "robust amenity set." No, seriously, he does. Here:

“Fourteen5 is a visionary project with a robust amenity set, and it provides the perfect space for our exciting entry into Addison," Clark says. "More so, the opportunity to collaborate with Cawley, a nimble and well-regarded local firm, was incredibly attractive to us. We’re excited to work with the Cawley team to make an already elite building even more special."

The Fourteen5 development features a courtyard and a separate three-story amenity building called The Hub, which includes a full-service restaurant with indoor-outdoor seating on the ground level; Ascension Coffee and a fitness center on the second level; and an open-air, covered terrace with games and lounge seating on the third level.

Additionally, a conference facility is located on the first level of the phase one office building.

Common Desk – Addison will feature contemporary finishes throughout the space with high ceilings and modern windows allowing in natural light. The coworking space will include a mix of private offices, team spaces, shared and dedicated desks, flexible work environments like collaborative booths and banquettes, and game and cocktail lounges. Additional amenities for members and tenants of the building include boot camp-style fitness classes under Common Desk’s Social Mechanics brand.

Common Desk turned six in October and currently operates four coworking locations throughout North Texas, covering 70,000 square feet of space, with more openings slated for early 2019.

Common Desk has been providing North Texas with an original coworking experience since 2012. It currently serves hundreds of members across its four DFW locations. Its flexible office spaces are comprised of a thriving community of freelancers, small businesses, fast-growing tech companies and enterprise companies. Common Desk’s portfolio also includes Fiction Coffee and The Gym of Social Mechanics, offering members and guests additional customized amenities that enhance the work day.

New relief fund launches for 2026 Texas Hill Country flood victims

The same foundation that collected more than $60 million for the 2025 floods has launched a new fund for 2026.

Texans looking to support Hill Country neighbors affected by floods over the past few days can turn to the same organization they did for the July 2025 floods: The Community Foundation of the Hill Country has launched a new Texas Hill Country Flood Relief Fund that is accepting donations now.

The foundation emphasizes that the two funds are distinct (last year's was called the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund), so donors should note that their contributions will specifically go toward Hill Country residents affected by the current floods. The money raised will offer emergency assistance and long-term recovery support.

According to the Associated Press, nearly 1 trillion gallons of water fell on the three hardest-hit Texas counties over three days — enough to fill 1.5 million Olympic-sized swimming pools or supply 11 million homes for a year. First responders rushed to save people trapped in high waters Friday, as more heavy rain widened the danger from floods that have killed at least two people and left hundreds more in need of rescue.

Earlier in the week, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declared a disaster in 59 counties including Travis to help emergency services respond quickly.

Although many regional businesses, churches, and other groups organized donations for the 2025 floods, the Community Foundation was the main entity holding and distributing funds. The Kerr County Flood Relief Fund totaled more than $60 million by the end of that July.

"Our hearts break that the Texas Hill Country is once again facing catastrophic flooding. Just one year after the devastating July 2025 floods, many of our neighbors are again in harm's way," said Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country CEO Austin Dickson. "People from across Texas and around the world came together to help Kerr County begin the long road to recovery. As first responders and local and state officials continue their response efforts, the Community Foundation's role is to help ensure communities have the philanthropic resources they need to recover in the weeks, months and years ahead."
