Collin County authorities warn that someone with measles was in Plano

Collin County Health Care Services has been notified that an individual who spent time in Collin County on April 10 and April 11 has tested positive for measles.
Measles is a highly contagious disease that can be transmitted from person-to-person through the air or contaminated surfaces. Measles can remain in the air for up to two hours after an infected person has left the area. Measles can lead to serious health complications.
This individual visited three shopping venues while infectious. Where does someone with measles shop?
Exposure Locations & Dates:
Walmart, 6001 N. Central Expwy. Plano
- April 10, exact time unknown
- April 11, at 9 pm
- April 12, at 1 am
Ross Dress For Less, 3300 N. Central Expwy. Plano
- April 11, 5-10 pm
Dollar Tree, 2404 K Ave., Plano
- April 11, evening, exact time unknown
Anyone who was at any of these locations during the specified dates and is not vaccinated against measles or is unsure of their immunity may be at risk of contracting measles.
What You Should Do
Anyone who was at the venues on the dates listed above should monitor themselves for measles symptoms through April 20, 2025.
Symptoms include: fever, dry cough, runny nose, sore throat, Inflamed eyes (conjunctivitis), Koplik’s spots — small white spots with bluish-white centers found inside the mouth, skin rash made up of large, flat blotches
Anyolne who develops measles symptoms should stay home and away from others.
Anyone who was at one of the venues on the dates and times listed above and is unvaccinated, pregnant, or immunocompromised (receiving treatment that would result in immune system suppression, or have an immune system disease), should contact their health-care provider immediately to discuss the possible exposure. Call before visiting a clinic or hospital to prevent possible exposure to others.
Collin County Health Care Services is collaborating closely with the Texas Department of State Health Services to monitor this situation.
