More Movies for Plano
Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas heads to Dallas suburbs for third Texas location
Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas will open a 10-screen, 40,000-square-foot theater complex at The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano sometime in 2020.
The new movie theater, announced April 15, is part of a $145 million renovation and expansion to The Shops at Willow Bend — one that has also added places like Knife, Mexican Bar Co., Terra Mediterranean Grill, and Ascension Coffee.
With the addition of the Plano theater, all three of Cinépolis USA Texas locations will be in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, joining one in Victory Park in Dallas and one in Euless. The burgeoning chain currently has 21 theaters in seven different states.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Cinépolis to The Shops at Willow Bend,” says Jeff Zeigler, COO at Starwood Retail Partners, in a statement. “With Crayola Experience, Equinox, the North Texas Performing Arts children’s theater, The District, the Ascension Annex, and now Cinépolis, we’re pleased to continue introducing a variety of entertainment, dining, and shopping experiences unique to this market.”
The new theater will offer moviegoers fully reclining leather seats and the option to dine at their seat. While they offer the standard in-seat ordering option you'd find at Alamo Drafthouse or Studio Movie Grill, they also offer the ability to pre-order food on their app.
The theater also promises to be a place for guests to feel pampered before, during, and after watching a film, offering cutting-edge sound and projection technology, an elegant lobby space, kid-friendly menu items, gourmet snacks, and a selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. The theater space will be fully integrated into The Shops at Willow Bend, with a direct entrance providing guests with easy access to the rest of the mall.
Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas Plano will become the city's sixth movie theater, joining Cinemark Legacy, Cinemark West Plano, Angelika Film Center Plano, Studio Movie Grill Plano, and Cinemark Movies 10.
