2 Dallas couples join Lifetime reality show about marrying millionaires
Two couples in Dallas are the latest locals to air their personal lives on reality TV, via a new docuseries on Lifetime. Called Marrying Millions, the show premieres on Wednesday, July 10, with 10 episodes on order.
The show follows six couples who are in relationships in which one is wealthy, and the other is not. The disparity subjects these couples to scrutiny and questions about whether it's true love or good old-fashioned gold-digging.
"Regular people are whisked off their feet and plunged into a high-end life of riches, extravagant experiences, and glamorous trips around the globe," gushes a release. "While it may sound like a modern-day fairytale, it's definitely not all champagne and caviar. On the road to the altar, the couples must try to bridge their vast differences and fit into each other's alien worlds."
Dallas couple No. 1 is Bill Hutchinson and his girlfriend Brianna Ramirez. Hutchinson is the twice-divorced commercial real estate executive with properties in the Design District, and known for his long hair and white jeans. The couple met at Blue Mesa Grill, where Brianna was a hostess and Bill was a customer.
The release says that Bill "wonders if she is ready for Dallas high society and if Dallas high society is ready for her."
Financial status is not their only difference: Bill is 61 and Brianna is 21. So when they met, she wasn't even 21 yet. That's totally not weird.
Dallas couple No. 2 is Katie Hamilton and Kolton Pierce. She's the 37-year-old ex-wife of baseball star Josh Hamilton. Kolton is the 23-year-old "aspiring hip-hop artist" whom she met when he came over to her house with a group of her 18-year-old daughter's friends. Totally not weird.
Hamilton and Pierce have been together for only a few months, and yet already there is backlash, says the release.
Other participants include Gentille, a Las Vegas real estate investor and her blue-collar boyfriend Brian; divorced Cleveland multi-millionaire Drew and his college grad GF Rosie; 29-year-old Palm Springs millionaire Shawn and his 33-year-old girlfriend Kate; and Sean and Megan, a coastal couple from opposite ends of the spectrum.
A sneak preview trailer is fairly mesmerizing, in a Pretty Woman kind of way. It certainly looks better than the Kardashians.
Marrying Millions is from Sharp Entertainment, a New York-based company known for producing reality shows such as 90 Day Fiance.
