Shop Till You Drop
It pays to be someone: VIPs get first dibs on discounted designer threads at theFIG Finale pre-party
Shop till you drop is the name of the game at the FIG Finale two-day event. But the VIP party Thursday night gave shoppers — nurses in scrubs, businesswomen and fashionistas — ample space to snatch up discounted designer goods before the mad rush.
A fresh new perk to the finale: Attendees received a raffle ticket at the door for a grand prize that included items from Abi Ferrin, Mizzen + Main, Sarah Briggs, Cotton Island, Accents, Melissa Vest and 10 other retailers.
Advice for the shoppers? Hit the bar for a cocktail before you make your way around the showrooms — thankfully there’s no violation for drinking while shopping — and don’t forget to refuel with tasty bites, especially the red pepper pesto spread on cucumber rounds.
More than 30 retailers filled the two-story space, so guests got a first look at goods ranging from dresses and jackets to jewelry, handbags, nighties, children’s clothes and menswear. Some of our favorite vendors included Elements, V.O.D. Boutique, Mark & Estel, On a Whim, Julep, Cotton Island, St. Bernard Sports and Kiehl’s. The only downside? Too few dressing rooms, so it was a bit of a fight to get to the haute racks. With an expected crowd of 1,200 people at FIG over the next two days, VIPs should be relieved the brawl was not yet considered a war.
Caught with a hot ticket: Rachel Tice, Laura Noble, Allison Moran, Jim Huffman, Nicole Roberson, Rhonda Toming, Isha Elhence, Lynn Larson, Natalie Fine, Veronica Vandine, Whitney Roberts, Cynthia Smoot and Ross Cromartie.
