Dallas jewelry brand's new subscription box brings bling to the door

Nicole Jordan
Dec 17, 2018 | 1:15 pm

Jewelry designer Jordan Flynn is making her Dallas-based line, Mod + Jo, more accessible than ever with a new subscription box service.

For $48 a month, subscribers will receive a monthly "Babe Box," containing two to three pieces of jewelry (worth at least $75) delivered right to their door.

At sign-up, subscribers are asked to answer a few questions about themselves, so Mod + Jo can create boxes appealing to their unique aesthetic.

"We're giving you a new favorite piece of mail — and a timeless piece for your wardrobe — on a regular basis," says Flynn.

"Timeless" is a buzzword for Mod + Jo. While the line boasts plenty of trendy statement pieces, its bread and butter is the "Everyday Collection," featuring delicate pieces that can be worn day in and day out, regardless of fleeting trends.

Since launching the brand nearly a decade ago, Jordan has made it her mission to provide women with the classic jewelry they crave at affordable prices — and it's a model that's working.

Though Flynn happened into jewelry design by accident — she started by creating pieces as Christmas gifts for friends — she's grown Mod + Jo into quite the empire, now available in over 100 stores nationwide.

Locally, you can find Mod + Jo at Favor the Kind, Beatnik Fine Goods, All Good Things, and Flea Style. Or, you can sign up for the subscription and find it in your mailbox.

Those looking for Christmas gift ideas will be interested to know there's also a gift subscription, which can be prepaid at the same $48/month rate for 1-6 and 12-month subscriptions. They'll ship boxes nationwide.

"It's great jewelry without guilt," says Flynn. "We've got you covered."

A Clear Choice

Texas designer Consuela launches clear handbags that are stadium approved

These bags fashionably comply with stadium rules.

Transparency is key for a new stadium-friendly product line by Texas handbag brand Consuela. The new collection recreates the brand's top-selling silhouettes in a clear material that makes them easy to carry at venues with strict handbag policies and long security lines.

This is the first time the Austin-based company has produced clear bags, press materials say.

Each clear Consuela bag has a bit of personality thanks to a printed, opaque strip of material across the top and a colorful strap that's interchangeable for different carrying styles: wearing the bag crossbody, on the shoulder, or as a clutch.

Leather accents also elevate each piece, which contains interior pockets, a credit card holder, and a removable piece that gives the base structure or, when it's removed, allows the bag to collapse.

With three shapes and three patterns or colorways on the nine bags that comprise the collection. The largest style is 11 inches by nine and a quarter inches, with a three-inch depth. Two smaller styles are more clutch-sized.

The top material can show off a colorful paisley-like design, leopard print, or an understated cream leather to match the rest of the trim.

The new collection ($125-$235) is available now at consuelastyle.com. Local retailers selling Consuela bags can be found through the brand's store locator.
