Fashion Group honors designer Christian Siriano at divine Dallas gala
The fashionable and the wealthy mingled at the Ritz-Carlton Dallas on November 10 for dinner, a fashion show, and a bit of celebrity wow.
The event was the Night of Stars Gala, an annual soiree from Fashion Group International (FGI) of Dallas, a nonprofit that promotes the fashion business.
Presented by Mary Kay, this year's honorees included designer Christian Siriano; Elle editor and Project Runway judge Nina Garcia; model and activist Bethann Hardison; and artist Ashley Longshore.
High-wattage presenters included Tyson Beckford, actress Alicia Silverstone, previous honoree and fashion doyenne Fern Mallis, and Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer of the Dallas Cowboys Charlotte Jones.
Emceed by Modern Luxury Fashion Director James Aguiar, the event took place in the Ritz' massive ballroom, with a 3-course meal that included short ribs, a Caesar salad, and creme brulee. A live auction to raise scholarship funds included a personal work of art by Longshore as well as tickets to Siriano’s 2024 show at New York Fashion Week. Charlotte Jones won most if not all of the bids.
The night peaked with a truly tranportative runway fashion show featuring designs by Siriano from throughout his career: more than 30 stunning looks - feathers, frills, sequins, hats - set to a blissful soundtrack of tunes like "Gisele (featuring Juicy Cola)" by French house music artist Emma Peters, that seemed to make time stop.
"Fashion is a hard business, it's a confusing business," Siriano said. "You never know if you're doing the right thing. But you will never be everything to everyone - and everyone deserves to feel great in clothes."
Guests in attendance included Mary Kay CEO Sheryl Adkins-Green, Nancy Rogers, Jessica Nowitzki, Porschla Kidd, Brian Bolke, Leigh Anne Clark, Brian Atwood, Moll Anderson, Sharon Lee Clark, J. Bolin, Scott Barnes, Nikki St. George, Maxine Trowbridge, Eva Raggio, Samantha Thornfelt, as well as FGI of Dallas Regional Director Nerissa von Helpenstill, District Director Chuck Steelman, and FGI Global President and CEO Maryanne Grisz.
