January traditionally is a time for fresh starts. In the shopping world, that means opportunities to stock up on clothing and home accessories for the year ahead. From longtime favorites offering new-year incentives to a few recently opened storefronts, this is where we're headed this month around Dallas.
Banana Republic
This NorthPark Center shop is moving to a bigger and better space at the end of the month. Look for the new location on level one between Nordstrom and Macy’s, in the former Abercrombie & Fitch space.
Galleria Dallas
The shopping experience at Galleria Dallas is being elevated January 22-February 28 as the North Dallas mall hosts Decadence: Fashion from the 1920s. The exhibition is curated by Ken Weber of Vintage Martini and features pieces from the Susan Denn and Robert Schmidt Collection and the Texas Collection of UNT College of Visual Arts and Design. Explore the show from noon to 6 pm daily on level one across from Tiffany & Co.
Nordstrom Pop-In Shop featuring Hay Mini Market
Now until February 7, shop the Hay Mini Market Pop-In at Nordstrom NorthPark Center featuring "playful home and office wares" from the popular Danish design company. This is a rare American appearance for the brand, founded by Copenhagen-based Rolf and Mette Hay, who put out modern, unpretentious products. Customers can expect to see everything from decorative trays ($16-$78) to mesh pouches ($6-$9).
Modshop
This Los Angeles-based home furnishings store has opened its fifth showroom on Slocum Street in the Dallas Design District. Husband-and-wife duo John and Taryn Bernard stack the store with midcentury modern designs, including home accessories, furniture, and artwork.
Refinery Consignment Boutique
Previously Uptown Consignment, this Design District shop offers clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and accessories at all prices. Higher-end items get a 50-50 split between the store and the seller; lower-end items get a 55-45 split. In addition to luxury items like Christian Louboutin peep-toes, the store offers a large selection of vintage clothing.
The Citizenry
After shoppers fell in love with the online store, Carly Nance and Rachel Bentley opened a Knox-Henderson brick-and-mortar shop late last year. Now Dallasites can shop the globally sourced, handcrafted furniture and accessories in person.
The Gypsy Wagon
Mark January 15-17 on your calendars: Gypsy Wagon is hosting an epic winter sale, with fall and winter goods offered at up to 75 percent off. The stuff left unsold hits the street for a large garage sale on Sunday, January 17.
The T Shop
Lakewood's neighborhood floral and gift shop has moved across the street to a space that is triple in size. In addition to offering paper products, candles, home accessories, and flowers, the new space also hosts birthday parties, showers, and philanthropic events.
