Upscale taqueria enters thick of action on Dallas' Cedar Springs
A fifth location of Taqueria La Ventana, the upscale fast-casual taqueria from the owners of El Fenix and Meso Maya, is coming to Dallas.
The chain known for its authentic Mexico City street food will open a branch in the thick of the Cedar Springs district at 3847 Cedar Springs Rd., in the space that was formerly Cafe Brazil.
Café Brazil had been in that space for 17 years before relocating in late 2016 to a building next door. The location was originally set to be absorbed into a potential pool project by the Warwick Melrose Hotel. Now it will have tacos instead.
Taqueria La Ventana's menu has more than 10 meat and veggie options to fill tacos, burritos, bowls, and salads. They also serve beer, margaritas, Mexican sodas, and churros.
Brian Livingston, president of Firebird Restaurant Group, the owners, says that the company is looking forward to joining the Cedar Springs area. "Our distinct ambiance and delicious, fresh menu will fit in perfectly with the thriving Cedar Springs community," he says.
The new location will have an eclectic design using the unique bones of the existing structure. It will also feature a 1,200-square-foot patio with a fun, energetic atmosphere.
That end of Cedar Springs is starting to see some action, with recent openings such as Orno Restaurant and Peasant Pizzeria. A block away, the Centrum building is undergoing a big renovation with new restaurants such as Pints & Quarts, Mudsmith, and Mille Lire.
Taqueria La Ventana has four locations: downtown Dallas, Dallas Farmers Market; Addison, and Greenville, Texas. The downtown location is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; the other three are open for lunch and dinner, no breakfast, so sorry.
