Hometown Drinking Glory
Dallas neighborhood ranks among best in U.S. for pub crawling
Uptown might be rife with pubs and clubs, but according to RealtyTrac, Deep Ellum and Expo Park offer a better ratio of bars to people, making the 75226 ZIP code a top destination for pub crawls.
In anticipation of St. Paddy's Day, housing data site RealtyTrac released a list of U.S. neighborhoods where bars are plentiful. The 75226 ZIP landed at No. 18 with 17 bars, or one for every 192 people who live there.
Comparatively, downtown Austin rocks 88 bars between 6th and Rainey streets, or one for every 67 people, making it the ZIP with the most bars per capita in the country.
It appears that most people are choosing to drive to Adair's Saloon or Twilite Lounge, because RealtyTrac claims that only 7.3 percent of people walk to the bars. No doubt that Uptown has more places to drink, but the per capita number gets kind of skewed when there's a 200-unit Gables complex on every corner.
Springfield, Massachusetts, and Detroit filled out the top three behind Austin. Port Aransas' 78373 was the third Texas ZIP to make the list, with 19 bars, or one for every 196 people.
