Pecan Lodge Farewell
Pecan Lodge serves its last Hot Mess at Dallas Farmers Market on Sunday
UPDATE: Pecan Lodge already served its last Hot Mess. The oven required to bake the oversized sweet potato is already moved. But you can still get smoked meats.

Barbecue fans prone to nostalgia will want to head to the Dallas Farmers Market on Sunday, May 11. It's the final day for Pecan Lodge which is moving to a new location in Deep Ellum.
Co-owner Justin Fourton made the announcement on his Facebook page, saying that the move was "a little bittersweet — we're really going to miss our friends there, but are really looking forward to the new adventure in Deep Ellum."
Fourton and his wife, Diane, first opened Pecan Lodge at the Dallas Farmers Market in 2010, and it became one of the market's biggest success stories. Their numerous accolades include an appearance on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives as well as a top spot in Texas Monthly's list of the best barbecue joints in Texas.
Construction on the Deep Ellum location is almost finished, but there'll be a short gap in availability; Fourton says he doesn't have an opening date but expects it to be soon.
Their growing fame combined with their limited space at the market has resulted in Franklin's BBQ-style two-hour waits. If you're a firm believer in the idea that barbecue doesn't taste quite as sweet without a wait first, then you'll love Sunday: The line should be epic.
