Dallas sports pub deemed best U.S. bar to watch World Cup
Perhaps you’ve noticed there’s a big soccer — excuse us, futbol — tournament going on. Sports fans across the globe are currently enraptured by the World Cup, so the Travel Channel smartly assembled a list of the 10 best U.S. bars to watch the action. Turns out, one of them is in Addison.
We can’t be sure this list was presented in any particular order, but there is a No. 1 by The Londoner, so we shall claim a W. The criteria for this roundup included a “lively atmosphere,” “authentic soccer fans” (no posers!), and “good beer/cocktails and food.”
Writes Kwin Mosby about this Addison favorite: “Head to The Londoner if you’re looking for an authentic British pub experience. England fans usually frequent the Addison bar, which is also the flagship location for the Dallas-Fort Worth pub chain.”
He also mentions drink specials like $5 caipirinhas, and, naturally, plans to show every World Cup match live. We’d like to throw in the fact that traditional English fare like fish and chips and shepherd’s pie can also be had.
Other bars on the top 10 list include Atlantic Beer Garden (No. 2) in Boston, which boasts 29 HD TVs and two projections screens; Nevada Smiths (No. 6) in Manhattan, a two-level bar that believes “football is religion’; and Seattle’s George & Dragon Pub (No. 9), which has always been a hot spot for watching American soccer.
Even though the Addison outpost is best known among soccer fans, The Londoner also has locations in Frisco, Colleyville, Rockwall and Greenville Avenue in Dallas. So now you have a spot to watch USA take on Germany at 11 am on June 26. Or join your soccer-watching brethren at the watching party at American Airlines Center sponsored by FC Dallas.
