    This Week In Gluttony

Farmers market fun and more top food events in Dallas this week

    Diana Oates
    Jul 21, 2015 | 6:00 am

Editor's note: The West Village farmers market that was scheduled for July 24 has been canceled.

It's a well-rounded week, with a couple of farmers market events, beer and wine tastings, and a fine-dining experience at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek.

    Tuesday, July 21

A Taste of Paris at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek
Chef Bruno Davaillon welcomes executive chef Chistopher Hache and pastry chef Jérôme Chaucesse from fellow Rosewood property Hôtel de Crillon in Paris. Highlights from the six-course tasting menu include lobster with pickled peach, black garlic and brown butter; and black bass with chanterelle, Australian truffle and chive blossom. Cost is $115 per person; call 214-559-2100 for reservations. Dinner starts at 6 pm, and the event takes place daily through Friday, July 24.

    Wednesday, July 22

Wine 101: Unlocking the Mystery of Wine at Messina Hof Winery
Happening the fourth Wednesday of each month, this tutorial helps unlock the mystery of wine. An in-house sommelier guides guests through the basics of wine knowledge: How is it aged? What are the different styles? What do all those interesting terms mean anyway? The event runs from 6-8 pm and costs $40. Reservations are suggested; call 817-442-8463.

Taste of Top 10 Summer Wines at Whole Foods Preston Forest
Join the Whole Foods wine team as they take you on a guided journey through a variety of bright and light summer wines. Whether you are looking for the perfect bottle to take to a picnic, pool party or quiet evening on the back porch, find options at this tasting. The event is free, but space is limited, so RSVP.

    Thursday, July 23

Evening in the Shed at Dallas Farmers Market
Every Thursday, you can shop artisan food vendors, order from food trucks, sample beer and wine, listen to great music, and do arts and crafts. Admission is free, and the event lasts from 4-9 pm.

Gulf Coast Seafood Festival at Sea Breeze Fish Market and Grill
From July 23-26, the chefs at Sea Breeze create a menu of dishes featuring some of the finest seafood on the Texas Gulf Coast. Dishes include Texas redfish, striped bass and Gulf shrimp. All selections are based upon availability, and they can be had for lunch or dinner.

    Sunday, July 26

Three-year Anniversary Party at FireWheel Brewing Company
Celebrate three years of Firewheel Brewing with 21 beers and three sodas on tap. In addition to the booze, guests can enjoy KB's Brats food truck, live music, giant Jenga, cornhole, an outdoor beer garden, dart boards, foosball and ice cream floats. The event lasts from noon-6 pm, and admission is free. Register here.

Summer Shenanigans Pop-up Dinner at 3015 Trinity Groves
The fun starts at 5:30 pm, with ceviche and local beer samplings and a meet-and-greet with chef Justin Box. Dinner begins at 6:30, and the menu includes summer favorites such as sweet corn bisque with lump crab, Windy Hill goat rillette, farm cheese gnocchi, smoke pork shank and plum crumble. This event is BYOB; however, summer sangria is available. Tickets are $75.

The Gulf Coast Seafood Festival at Sea Breeze Fish Market starts July 23.

Unique new coffee shop to open inside Coach handbag store in Allen

There's a new coffee shop coming to DFW that's riding a hot trend: It's called The Coach Coffee Shop, and it's opening inside the Coach store at Allen Outlet Malls at 820 W. Stacy Rd., where it will debut in summer 2026.

Coach is famous for its collector handbags, but the shop is a new venture for the company, in its efforts to court younger customers and entice them to stick around. There are currently six locations across the U.S., including one in Austin, which opened at The Domain in 2025. But the company has plans to add many more locations around the world, an expansion into tactile experiences to enhance retail sales.

The menu features coffee, espresso drinks like cappuccinos and lattes, cold brew, matcha lattes with rotating seasonal flavors, and iced beverages. The chain has partnered with Stumptown Coffee Roasters, the highly regarded bean purveyor based in Portland, Oregon, to craft an exclusive Coach Coffee blend that's served in the store, described thusly:

"Featuring notes of rich milk chocolate, sweet toffee, and finishes with sparkling blood orange, the blend is a beautiful balance of flavors from Latin America and Indonesia. Bold and versatile, the blend brews both a classic, everyday drip coffee and an elegant espresso."

They also serve pastries, the selection of which varies by store, but might include salted chocolate chip cookies, blueberry muffins, vegan carrot cake muffins, cinnamon rolls, savory scones, ham & cheese croissant, and soft-serve in waffle cones.

    There are two signature items:

    • Tabby Cake — an adorable chocolate treat shaped like Coach’s trademark Tabby bag
    • Lil Miss Jo Cookie — an edible version of the chain's coffee-cup animated mascot used in their ad campaigns

The coffee shop will be located inside the store, and construction is already underway.

With the opening, Coach joins a big trend of cafes located inside high-fashion retailers such as Prada, Chanel, and Dior, which debuted a rare location of Cafe Dior By Dominique Crenn — featuring a menu designed by the acclaimed chef — at their store in Highland Park Village in 2025.

In addition to the Coach Coffee Shop, two other new stores are opening at Allen Outlet Malls: Timberland Outlet, known for creating rugged outdoor gear for men, women and children, opening next to Bath & Body Works; and Psycho Bunny, cult menswear brand that debuted in New York in 2005, opening next to Karl Lagerfeld.
