After six years of hanging on at Victory Park, the downtown Dallas location of local Tex-Mex restaurant chain Luna de Noche shut down a few weeks ago. A staffer at the NorthPark Center branch confirmed the closure.
"We closed that a couple weeks ago," she said. "We tried to fight it as much as we could. It would get good when we had games or concerts. But otherwise, there's not much going on over there."
Victory Park hasn't had much success with restaurants or retail.
According to a sign posted on the restaurant's door, the chain decided to close the Victory Park branch "to focus more attention on our other restaurants." Luna de Noche has three other locations: NorthPark, Far North Dallas Plano and Rockwall.
Victory Park has achieved high office occupancy but hasn't had much success with restaurants or retail. A renovation is in the works that will include, strangely, yet more retail and office space, to be built across the street from American Airlines Center. Because if your retail operation isn't fully occupied, then build more?
Developers hope that a new parking structure with 1,200 spaces will make the center more appealing.
