Want to make an old fashioned like a pro? Then watch this video, the first in Old Forester’s Cocktail Chronicles series. Dallas bartender Geovanni Alafita does it with a twist: chocolate and chile.
This is how you can re-create his recipe:
Spiced Chocolate Old Fashioned
Yields 1 drink
2 ounces Old Forester Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky
2-3 dashes of chocolate bitters
1-2 dashes of Angostura bitters
1 teaspoon ancho liqueur
Dash of vanilla simple syrup
Toast a cinnamon stick with flame and place under a glass. This glass will be used to serve the drink once it is mixed.
Pour syrup, liqueur, bitters, and whisky in a separate glass; add ice and stir.
Strain and pour over ice into the glass that once covered the cinnamon stick. Garnish with toasted cinnamon stick and ancho chile pepper.
