July 4th blows up the 7 best food and drink events in Dallas this week

Independence Day celebrations are already in full swing (find our comprehensive Dallas-area list of festivities here). But this week brings more all-American flavors with restaurants joining in. Most restaurants are offering some kind of fun special or cocktail but we've highlighted some of the more elaborate options, along with a celebration of Canada, too.
Tuesday, July 1
Canada Day at Maple Leaf Diner
Celebrate Canada’s 158th birthday at this Canadian dining destination: Wear a "Canadian tuxedo" (a fashion term for an outfit consisting of a denim jacket and jeans) and receive a complimentary half-poutine. Visit between 1–2:30 pm for a free butter tart and get a free Maple Leaf Diner t-shirt all day long while supplies last.
Thursday, July 3
Ida Claire Kaboom Town Block Party
Kick off 4th of July festivities at Ida Claire with a view of the fireworks during Addison’s 40th annual Kaboom Town. Ida Claire will offer VIP tables with live music by Champagne Yacht Club, a backyard barbecue-themed menu, outdoor games, and red, white, and “bluezy” drinks. Table reservations are $50 per person and include a $20 food and beverage credit, plus one complimentary valet per four people. Reservations begin at 7 pm.
Sushi Omakase Pop-Up at Bar Juniper
Chef Fuyuhiko ITO of UMI and Sozou will visit The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas, Las Colinas to collaborate with executive chef Giles Schreiber on an eight-course tasting menu experience. It'll be a three-night pop-up taking place at the hotel's Bar Juniper in the lobby, promising a menu that harmonizes Japanese artistry with French sophistication. The tasting is $125, plus tax and gratuity, and will be offered Thursday-Saturday with seating times at 6 pm and 8:30 pm. Seats are limited and going fast.
Friday, July 4
Red, White, & Brew at Legacy Hall
Plano food hall will host a July 4th cookout in the outdoor covered Lexus Box Garden with hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, corn dogs, charred corn on the cob, and potato salad, with sweet treats including free ice cream for the first 125 kids, boozy popsicles for grownups, and watermelon slices. The cookout with family-friendly activities will run from 12–6 pm.
A Star-Spangled Birthday Bash at McRae’s
American bistro and cocktail bar turns two and will celebrate with an all-American three-course menu all weekend long. Highlights include Southern deviled eggs, whiskey-glazed pork chop, bistro steak Diane, and espresso chocolate mousse cake. Prices range from $39 to $49 (depending on entrée course); dessert is $10 more. The menu will be served Friday-Sunday.
Stars, Stripes, and Skyline Views at Monarch
Take in the glory of Independence Day at this 49th floor Dallas dining destination with a four-course dinner and sky-high fireworks views. Highlights include lamb ribs with smoked leek yogurt, grilled branzino, Rosewood Wagyu filet, and chocolate cake with banana mousse and vanilla ice cream. The dinner is $150 plus tax and gratuity, and seating times are from 6–10 pm.
A5 Wagyu Dinner at Gorji
Mediterranean restaurant will offer a special three-course dinners featuring A5 Japanese Wagyu beef tenderloin. The exclusive cut of beef will be paired with gnocchi pomegranate crème and grilled vegetables, with an appetizer of yellowfin ahi tuna crostini and almond cookie with house-made ricotta for dessert. The price is $195 plus tax. Dinner will be offered from 6-8 pm both Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5.
