New restaurant at Omni PGA Frisco Resort will open with horsey theme
The new Omni PGA Frisco Resort in Frisco has unveiled its in-house restaurant. Called Trick Rider, it's an upscale steak and seafood concept that, oddly, pays homage to rodeo trick riders — not golfers? — and will open in the spring at 4341 PGA Pkwy. in Frisco.
Executive Chef is Joshua Hasho, who has been with the Omni since 2012, including stints at the Omni Chicago, Omni Interlocken in Colorado, and the Omni Barton Creek Resort.
The restaurant will feature in-house dry-aged meats, an extensive butchery program, and seafood from around the world. It'll be open for dinner only.
Hasho says in a statement that they're focused on creating "an authentic Texas dining experience" and that will include a Wagyu beef tasting, a raw bar, East coast oysters, plus shellfish from Australia, Hawaii, and other locales flown in fresh daily.
The beverage program will comprise cocktails, luxury wines, and distilled spirits.
The restaurant will seat 115 in the dining room, 22 at a horseshoe-shaped bar, and 15 in a private dining room.
Decor will included stitched leather Texas stars on the back of banquettes, art of female trick riders (not golfers?), walnut herringbone floors, and cognac leather and fabrics "reminiscent of fine liquors."
The ceiling is designed to emulate a star-filled Texas sky, with a signature art piece suspended above the bar: a 16-foot long and 9-foot high, 1,500-pound, crystal horse chandelier. The piece was designed by Jeffrey Beers International and consists of 4,075 bohemian cut crystal beads arranged on stainless steel wires.
According to a release, the source of inspiration for all this is Sydna Yokley Woodyard, a rodeo trick rider who was raised on a Texas ranch, a quarter horse breeder, and founder of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Seems like a missed opportunity not to spotlight some lady golfers from the Texas Hall of Fame — ladies who, being golfers, wouldn't be breeding animals, either. How about Betsy Rawls? Judy Rankin? Sandra Palmer?
