Village Dallas recasts former hidden gem restaurant into nightlife spot
A restaurant at The Village is relaunching with more of a club vibe: La Mina at The Village, previously a restaurant-restaurant, is now being recast as a restaurant-plus-Latin-themed nightlift destination aiming to transform the nightlife scene with cultural diversity, electrifying entertainment, and delectable cuisine.
According to a release, it'll make its debut on September 29.
La Mina first opened in 2021 as a restaurant serving regional Mexican food and agave cocktails in a subterranean spot beneath the Drey Hotel - one of many restaurants that opened nearly simultaneously at the complex. Maybe too many all at once.
The reimagined concept will host live DJs and entertainment, creating an immersive audio-visual experience that sets it apart from the conventional nightclub scene, with theme nights as follows:
- Thursdays celebrate culture with sounds from around the globe, ranging from Latin beats to African tribal, with resident DJ Electrophunk.
- Fridays are Latin nights with salsa, bachata, merengue, and cha-cha-cha, with DJs and guest performers.
- Saturdays feature resident DJ Mac spinning tribal drums and melodic house music.
- Sundays will be a post-brunch party with open format music selections and menus for day-drinkers.
- Mondays will have rotating local DJs, plus food and drink specials for the service industry.
La Mina's original speakeasy will still be open, accommodating up to 30 guests behind a secret door - one of three distinct spaces at La Mina along with the outdoor patio.
Their goal is to get residents of The Village to view La Mina as a local watering hole, while also persuading outsiders to venture into the neighborhood.
