More than 100 art and animal lovers gathered at Christopher Martin Gallery on February 8 to toast Hearts for Hounds, the artist's annual Valentine's Day-inspired event.
This is the first year that Dallas has joined in on the soiree — Martin launched the fundraiser eight years ago at his gallery in Aspen, Colorado, and now both locations participate.
Guests at the Design District gallery enjoyed sips and bites from Doug Boster Catering while viewing 40 of Martin's Heart paintings.
The works employ Martin's signature technique, known as reverse glass painting, which is done on Lucite panels. Originals, metallic prints, and print collections were all on display.
Twenty percent of the evening's proceeds benefited the SPCA of Texas, which in turn inspired collectors to purchase 23 of the special Hearts.
That's impressive, considering that the attention of many of the evening's attendees was captured by the adorable, adoptable dogs that were also at the gallery to highlight the event's cause.
In addition to the SPCA receiving $3,000 from the art sales, six lucky pups found their fur-ever homes that night.
