Lee Park Junior Conservancy does derby Dallas-style with Day at the Races
Hundreds of dapper derby enthusiasts descended upon Arlington Hall for the Day at the Races Auction Preview Party thrown by Lee Park Junior Conservancy. Although it was far from Kentucky, attendees felt like they were in the middle of the action, because the hall was transformed into Dallas’ own Churchill Downs.
Co-chairs Whitney Brune and David Dees welcomed guests — a mix of members and potential new members — before everyone settled into elegant seating areas to catch the races broadcast on multiple TVs. Refreshments included bites provided by Food Glorious Food and derby-themed drinks by Four Roses Bourbon, Belvedere and Veuve Clicquot.
As cocktails flowed, guests got into the auction action, which included amazing items such as 2015 Kentucky Derby vacation packages, Trunk Club gift cards, a luxurious stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Kendra Scott jewelry and more.
But the highest bidders weren’t the only winners on this occasion; five lucky attendees were crowned for excellence in derby attire:
- Best Hat: Emily Grace
- Best Dressed Male: Chris Cummings
- Best Dressed Female: Betty Crawford
- Best Dressed Couple: Mr. and Mrs. Gregg Wilson
