The 411: Supporters of Genesis Women’s Shelter always are treated to impressive speakers at the Dallas nonprofit’s annual luncheon, and more than 1,800 of them turned out to see Maria Shriver this year, who participated in a live conversation with Jeff Brady. Many know Shriver as an award-winning journalist and producer, six-time New York Times best-selling author, former first lady of California, and NBC News anchor, but attendees got to see her in a more down-to-earth light as she helped raise money to fight domestic violence. Jane Doe and HeRO award recipients also were honored during the luncheon. The DallasMorning News received the former; W.H. Adamson High School athletic director and football coach Joshua Ragsdale received the latter. This year also marked 30 years of service for the organization.
