Mary Kay Foundation fans think pink at Suits for Shelters launch party
Well-dressed philanthropists filled haute Dallas boutique Tootsies for a pink-themed cocktail fete to launch the fifth annual Suits for Shelters initiative. A partnership with the Mary Kay Foundation, the program aids the fight against domestic violence by providing professional attire to women for job interviews.
Immediately upon entrance, guests — including Jan Langbein, Nancy Gopez, and Katy and Lawrence Bock — were armed with pink bubbly, savory snacks and red velvet cupcakes. Once sated, they perused the second-floor racks brimming with pink clothing and accessories.
Midway through the evening, all eyes turned to Crayton Webb, director of corporate communications and corporate social responsibility for Mary Kay Inc., who thanked everyone in attendance. He also shared that Suits for Shelters has donated 10,000 suits and distributed more than $50 million to domestic violence shelters.
Just before the pink fashion show, chief investment officer for Mary Kay and co-host Ryan Rogers — whose grandmother founded the MK Foundation in 1996 — chimed in by thanking Tootsies and all of the supporters.
Through August 5, shoppers are encouraged to bring gently used business attire to Tootsies, which then will be distributed to women’s shelters. All donors receive a $25 Tootsies gift card as a token of thanks.
Among the supporters on the scene: co-host Maleiah Rogers, Mary Kay CMO Sheryl Adkins-Green, Kirsten Gappelberg, Kim Sater, Michael Lunceford, Paige Flink and Regina Bruce.
