Charitably Chic
Elegant early risers join fashion designer Abi Ferrin for a Freedom Projectbrunch
When local designer Abi Ferrin has a message to deliver, she knows how to make people listen. She hosted a five-course brunch, complete with mimosas, at Cedars Social, to spread the word about the Freedom Project.
The Freedom Project supports the women in the Sak Saum ministry in Cambodia, which provides fair trade work, education, counseling and more to victims of abuse. Through her work on the project, Ferrin stands up against human trafficking by supporting the safe environment in which these women can create handbags for her line.
At the brunch, chic early risers — including Olivia Kearney, Mary Gill, Astyn Davis, Jamaica Raith, Regina Bruce, Cathy Veith, Nancy Gopez, Leisa Street, Sonia Black, Alison Volk, Rozalyn Colombo, Grace Colombo, Sunie Solomon and Paige Lane — indulged in bottomless mimosas, enjoyed a fashion show from Ferrin's spring 2013 collection and listened to the designer's inspiring experiences visiting the women of Sak Saum.
A special Skype call (via iPad) from Ginny Hanson, the international director of Sak Saum in Cambodia, made the charitable event even more meaningful. All the proceeds from the brunch went directly to the Freedom Project.
