If we had to choose one place in Dallas to send a Vogue editor, it most certainly would be Forty Five Ten. And it's not simply because of the boutique's collection of clothing and accessories from the world's hautest fashion houses. Owner Brian Bolke knows how to throw a proper cocktail party, with an epic guest list.
From the minute the December Soiree invitations arrived — complete with a holiday mix by DJ Lucy Wrubel — we knew this holiday fete would be a hit. Throw in special guests CFDA jewelry designer Dean Harris and Vogue international editor Hamish Bowles, and we were certain Christmas had arrived early.
After purchasing Bowles' new book, Vogue: The Editor's Eye, stylist guests — including Brenda Strong, Nasiba Adilova, Cindy and Howard Rachofsky, Gonzalo Bueno, Jan and Jim Showers, Lynn McBee, Lael Brodsky, and Nancy Dedman — mingled with the author and fantasized about his glamorous, fashion-filled career.
Guests also sipped on appropriately named cocktails — The Hamish, with Belvedere, cranberry and orange spice, and The Dean,a Belvedere gimlet — and noshed on mini quiches, butternut squash shooters, lemon pistachio mini tarts and panini.
Even though we can't be sure how they celebrate the holidays at Vogue, we do know that the December Soiree exceeded the expectations of our city's special visitors.
