Too many turnovers, too little defense: Baylor loses Trust Fund Tussle to TCU
Much ado is given each year to the Texas-OU Red River Rivalry. But with 108 years of history between them, Baylor and TCU have been playing for nearly as long as the Longhorns and Sooners. And if Twitter is any indication (and it totally is), then the private university match-up is in the midst of rebranding itself.
On paper, Baylor looked better than TCU. Unfortunately for the Bears, games aren't won on reputation.
The hashtag Trust Fund Tussle got some traction Saturday evening, winning over both Bear and Frog fans. Too bad the game wasn't as entertaining.

Baylor's quarterback, veteran Nick Florence, headed into Saturday's game ranked no. 2 in the nation in passing yards per game. The Horned Frogs play-caller, red-shirt freshman Trevone Boykin, was facing only his second game as quarterback. Yet it was Boykin who threw for four touchdowns and led his team to a 49-21 victory.
Baylor had its bright moments. Each of its touchdown drives was spectacular, with Florence throwing bombs for 75, 77 and 47 yards. Dallas ISD product Terrance Williams continues to be Florence's favorite target, but TCU defenders were a close second.
The Bears don't get rattled when Florence throws one or two interceptions. It's kind of his thing, and we all love a flawed hero. But four interceptions is unacceptable, especially when TCU converts turnovers to touchdowns.
You'd think in the two weeks after a 63-70 loss to West Virginia, Baylor would have devoted some attention to improving its defense. No such luck. The Horned Frogs moved the chains with ease, breaking Baylor tackles and ankles all the way to the end zone.
TCU was coming off of a tumultuous couple of weeks, but you never would have known it. Baylor looked more like a team battling its demons than TCU did.
