Hollywood heroes and rising stars light up sizzling Texas Film Awards
Big-deal celebrities joined the silver screen's rising stars for the annual Texas Film Awards on March 6 in Austin. Presented by the Austin Film Society, the event serves as an unofficial kickoff to the SXSW Film Festival.
Actorand St. Mark's Luke Wilson acted as master of ceremonies for the prestigious awards program. He was joined on the red carpet by Texas filmmaking heroes Robert Rodriguez and Richard Linklater, as well as legends Johnny Depp and Priscilla Presley.
During the ceremony, Amber Heard, who recently starred in Machete Kills and All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, was presented with the Rising Star Award. Lubbock native Mac Davis received the Soundtrack Award, while Rodriguez was honored with the Star of Texas Award (a timely delivery, given the premiere of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series at SXSW on March 8).
