Derby-dressed Dallas Symphony Orchestra Leaguers go to the races
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra League knows how to spend a Sunday afternoon. Members dressed in their derby finest recently gathered at the newly renovated Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie for the 16th annual Wells Fargo Dallas Symphony Derby party.
Elegant event chairwoman Mari Epperson — who was hard to miss in a Kentucky Derby-style yellow floral dress and wide-brimmed hat — welcomed sophisticates Doris Jacobs, Courtney and Andrew Nall, Melissa and Buddy Lewis, Clarice Tinsley, Anne and Tom Motlow, Marena Gault, DSO League president Sharon Barbee, honorary chairs Becky and Brad Todd, Wells Fargo regional director Mark Zacheis, and Wells Fargo vice president Sherry Key, who arrived ready to bid on the horses and raise additional funds for the DSO’s education and outreach programs.
Guests sipped on mint juleps and nibbled on tasty bites in the refreshed Silks Dining Room, which overlooks the finish line. And because no DSO fete would be complete without classical music, Young String performers were onsite to serenade.
“With the funds raised today, you are instrumental in keeping the music alive,” Epperson said. “It’s the music that this event is all about, and these young performers will help ensure that through their musical education.”
