What: Thrive
Where: Hilton Anatole
The 411: Cancer Support Community North Texas hosted its inaugural Thrive event to honor Texas Health Resources CEO Doug Hawthorne with the first-ever Community in Action award. Hawthorne oversees a health system with 24 acute care and short-stay hospitals that are owned, operated, joint-ventured or affiliated with Texas Health Resources. Guests enjoyed an elegant cocktail reception followed by a formal dinner and lively auction. Items such as a Kent Rathbun dinearound and limo experience for eight with wine pairings, round of golf for four at the Vaquero Club, and a $500 Kendra Scott color bar party helped raise nearly $300,000 for the organization’s programs. The mission of the Cancer Support Community North Texas is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community by offering programs and services completely free of charge.
