The Mother of All Luncheons
Motherhood Luncheon honors Dallas philanthropist and lady-about-town Yvonne Crum
Ladies who lunch recently gathered at the Hilton Anatole for the Dallas Can Academies 20th annual Motherhood Luncheon. The afternoon’s honoree was well-liked local philanthropist and lady-about-town Yvonne Crum.
DCA is part of Texas Can Academies, a network of 10 charter schools throughout the state that serves students who previously struggled in a traditional high school setting. The organization has given more than 90,000 youths the chance to pursue their dreams.
TCA hosts the annual motherhood luncheon to celebrate civic-minded women who impact the community as well as their own families. This year TCA expanded the event beyond Dallas, Fort Worth and San Antonio to include luncheons in Houston and Austin.
“This is one of my favorite events each year, because we have the opportunity to honor an extraordinary member of the Dallas community who exemplifies the spirit of community service,” said TCA CEO Richard Marquez.
Crum, a mother and grandmother, was recognized for her dedication to family and community. We can attest to her achievements as board member and chairman of many events for nonprofits such as Dallas Children's Theater, Dallas Museum of Art, DIFFA Style Council, Nexus Recovery Center, Northwood University, Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas, and National Women's Board.
Among those inspired by Crum's commitment were Tincy Miller; Kim Rozell; Debra Nelson; event chair Kurt VandeMotter; honorary co-chairs Carolyn Lupton and Jill Rowlett; and past honorees Susie Bell, Gloria Campos, Sara Gongora, Delia Jasso, Patricia Meadows, Tincy Miller, Patti Reed and Ann Williams.
