1. Horror Museum in Deep Ellum shuts down early on opening night. The so-called Horror Museum & Chocolate Bar, a new place in Deep Ellum that advertises itself as "the scariest Horror Museum in the world," had what would have to be called a difficult opening night on September 27, with such scathing reviews that the owners shut it down early. Despite the complaints, the owners said on Monday that the show would go on.
2. Dallas' Greenville Avenue loses highly rated barbecue restaurant. Barbecue just doesn't seem able to survive on Greenville Avenue, or at the very least, in the building at 1916 Greenville Ave. The latest casualty: Stiky Ribz, a spinoff of a well-regarded Forney BBQ concept of the same name, which closed the last week of September.
3. Dallas chef Graham Dodds leaves new Oak Cliff restaurant before it opens. A new restaurant coming to Dallas' Oak Cliff neighborhood is minus one chef. The Mayor's House, the much-anticipated eatery set to open in a historic Oak Cliff home, has parted ways with its chef, Graham Dodds.
4. These Dallas ZIP codes proclaimed most expensive places to rent in Texas. Dallas' hottest 'hoods come at a price — some of the highest in all of Texas, according to a new study. RentCafe's 2019 list of most expensive ZIP codes to rent puts three Dallas areas among the 10 priciest in Texas.
5. Celeb musician's command performance stuns at Dallas Symphony Orchestra gala. The official theme of this year's Dallas Symphony Orchestra Gala was "ilunabarra," which is Basque for "sunset," but the sartorial theme might as well have been "midnight." Sapphire-blue gowns dominated among the attendees, who packed the Meyerson Symphony Center to enjoy a concert from special guest Joshua Bell before partying long into the night.
