Oscar-winning actress encourages Dallas Junior League to spread joy and compliments
What: Junior League of Dallas Milestones Luncheon
Where: Hilton Anatole
The 411: Co-chairs Nikki Webb and Jennifer Scripps welcomed hundreds of Dallas's most driven and inspirational women (and a few good men) to a packed Chantilly Ballroom to support the Junior League of Dallas and also to hear from Academy Award-Winning actress Octavia Spencer.
The exciting speaker chatted in a Q&A-style conversation with WFAA's Shelly Slater about everything from being a Southerner at heart to industry crushes. Spencer's playful spirit had guests hooked, and they couldn’t get enough of her hilarious obsession with Jackie Chan, with whom she says she is dying to work. She also touched on all the “crazy” currently happening in the industry and left the audience with a message to “spread happiness, joy, and compliments.”
The JLD also awarded Linda Perryman Evans the 2017-2018 Sustainer of the Year Award for her service and leadership.
Proceeds from this luncheon allow the JLD to annually grant more than $1 million dollars to the Dallas community. Founded in 1922, the Dallas chapter of the Junior League is one of the largest in the world.
