More reality TV: Kate Weiser of Chocolate Secrets to compete on Food Network'sSugar Dome
Kate Weiser, chocolatier at Chocolate Secrets, will compete on a new confectionary show on Food Network called Sugar Dome. It premieres Sunday, November 25, at 7 pm.
The format of the show has three teams, comprising artists from different disciplines, who enter the "Sugar Dome" to battle it out. Cake designers and sugar artists team up with fruit carvers, graffiti artists, sand sculptors and more to compete for a title and $15,000.
Featuring veteran TV host David Bull, the contest is judged by pastry chef and cake designer Paulette Goto (Unique Sweets, Jacques Torres Chocolates) and pastry chef Pichet Ong (Sugar & Plumm), as well as rotating guest judges such as actress Monica Potter, Motocross champion Nate Adams and costume designer Randall Christensen.
Creations include a fire-breathing dragon, Dr. Seuss tableau and the Wizard of Oz.
Weiser says that, on orders from the Food Network, she is unable to offer much detail and doesn't know yet what date her appearance will air.
"The producers warned me explicitly not to do any press until the show airs," Weiser says. "I'm on just one episode, and I know that it was the seventh episode to film, but I don't know when that episode airs."
She says that each episode has a new round of contestants, and she enjoyed the taping.
"It was the most fun experience ever, and I would love to talk your ear off, but I'll have to wait," she says.
