Commercials on TV have been teasing it for months, and the time has finally come for Living Spaces to open its new showroom in Frisco. The furniture giant will open its new store, at 10900 Hwy. 121, on Wednesday, August 26.

The 135,000-square-foot space will be the West Coast brand's second showroom in Dallas-Fort Worth, after its local debut in Grand Prairie in May 2019. Another store is expected to open in far north Fort Worth in 2021.

The massive new store will serve as a major design destination for the region, according to a release. Besides housing collections in the living room, dining room, bedroom, home office, outdoor, youth and accessories categories, it will include a kids' play room and café, both to open at a later date.

“As a Texas native, nothing makes me prouder than bringing everything Living Spaces has to offer back home,” says Grover Geiselman, CEO and founder of Living Spaces, in a release. “I truly believe in our ability to connect families with pieces that will improve their lives. Now more than ever, our homes have to fill so many roles…they’re our classrooms, our restaurants, our movies theaters, our gyms. Living Spaces is here to ensure guests find what they need in order to transform and elevate every room with beautiful, comfortable, functional designs.”

The store comes well staffed with a team of design consultants who will help customers imagine and shop for thoughtful, well-priced designs. Choices include celebrity collections like the rustic-chic Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines and sophisticated pieces by Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent.

Premiering at this store is a group of four custom-built houses that showcase different lifestyles, including Modern Living, Classic Living, Rustic Living and Casual Living. The prototypes will help guests envision what their dream home could look like, the release says.

Other special perks include custom order upholstery at no extra charge; 3D room planning; and an Elements collection, which encompasses unique decor and furnishings sourced from around the globe.

Living Spaces was established in 2003 and calls La Mirada, California home. They're the leading West Coast home furnishings retailer, known for offering a wide selection of indoor and outdoor furniture, décor, lighting, art and unique pieces at affordable price-points. They design and manufacture an assortment of exclusive products that are available online and in-store, they say.

As the new store is opening amid the coronavirus pandemic, customers can expect special health and safety protocols. All visitors to the showroom must wear a mask.

Dallas attorney to compete for $100K on HGTV competition series

A Dallas attorney-turned-interior designer is taking both her design talents and competitive instincts to national television: Chalon Clark will compete on the new season of HGTV's Renovation Resort Showdown, premiering Wednesday, July 1.

According to a release, Clark will compete alongside friend and contractor Liz Truluck on the renovation competition series hosted by Scott McGillivray and Bryan Baeumler. Clark is the only competitor from Texas.

The show pits four contractor-designer teams against each another as they renovate waterfront cabins at a lakeside resort. Teams are judged on design, craftsmanship, budgets, timelines, and other renovation challenges. The winning duo takes home a $100,000 prize.

Clark has an unconventional résumé for an HGTV contestant. She is the founder of a Dallas interior design firm called Design Redefined and also a practicing trial attorney and partner at Husch Blackwell law firm.

She says the two careers have more in common than people might think.

"People are often surprised to learn that the same skills that make me successful as a trial lawyer translate directly into design," Clark says in the release. "Both require listening carefully, solving complex problems, advocating for a vision, and paying attention to every detail. Whether I'm preparing for a trial or designing a space, my goal is the same: to create something intentional, impactful, and meaningful."

Clark's Design Redefined specializes in residential, commercial, and resort projects. She says her work focuses on creating personalized spaces that reflect each client's story while balancing style and function.

Her design work has been featured in publications including Martha Stewart Living and House Beautiful.

Clark says appearing on the show is also about encouraging others to pursue passions beyond their primary careers.

"I hope I'm an inspiration to anyone who feels stuck in a career that no longer reflects everything they are," Clark says. "Your passions don't have to die because you've become successful in one area of life. You can make room for them. I'm still a trial lawyer, but I've also built a design business and now find myself on HGTV. You don't have to choose just one version of yourself."

The new season of Renovation Resort Showdown premieres July 1 on HGTV; check cable and streaming services for local times.
