Where to Drink
Where to drink in Dallas right now: Best new happy hours for May

Of all the hours in the day, happy hour is the happiest of all. Let us toast the Dallas restaurants and bars who thoughtfully come out with new happy hours so that we may collate them once a month in our monthly installment of Where to Drink Right Now.
Here are the latest new happy hours for May:
Alamo Club
This Greenville Avenue neighborhood spot in the former Blind Butcher space is relatively new, so it stands to reason that its happy hour would be new too, duh. Their offering is strictly drink-focused — no snacks — but it's half-price wines and half-price cocktails. No beer discounts, but beers are already $3-$4 to begin with. Hours: Monday-Friday 5-6:30 pm.
Asador
Restaurant at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel keeps their cocktail menu fresh, with a new set of drinks for every season. Their spring lineup includes three new tequila drinks, including one called Excessive that has Blanco tequila, Aperol, rose, lemon, and bubbles; and another with lime and Topo Chico; and one with tequila, mezcal, strawberry puree, and yellow Chartreuse. Get these and more at their new extended happy hour which runs daily, weekends, too, with $4 house chardonnay and cabernet, $4 Texas draft beers, and $3 sides. Hours: Sunday-Saturday 4-6 pm.
Bitter End
Deep Ellum's newest neighborhood spot comes on strong with happy hour every day, including weekends. Draft beers, wells, frozen drinks, and house wines are all $5. Snacks, too: Beef sliders and hot chicken sliders are also $5. They also have a daily reverse happy hour from 10 pm to 2 am that includes fresh oysters for $1.50 each at the rotating oyster bar or on the lively, lounge-worthy patio. Hours: Sunday-Friday 5–7 pm.
Meso Maya
All locations except for downtown Dallas have an extended weekday happy hour with $5 house margaritas, house wine, house wells, select beer, queso, or guacamole. All appetizers are $5 during happy hour at the bar only. The downtown location starts up its happy hour an hour early at 3 pm. Hours: Monday-Friday 4-7 pm; downtown Monday-Friday 3-6 pm.
Slater's 50/50
Two locations of this burger joint are both doing their own happy hour specials. At the Preston Forest location, there are different happy hour specials every day: Taco Tuesday with $3 tacos, margaritas & Dos Equis beer; Wednesday has $4 select shots; Thursdays are $4 for Texas vodka and $2 off Texas beer. On Fridays, you can add any shot to your craft beer for $3. Hours: Monday all day, Tuesday-Friday 2-6 pm. At the Lower Greenville location, daily specials include $5 plates, such as the sliders sampler, bacon cheese fries, Brussels sprouts, and more along with discounts on margaritas, beer, wine, and specialty cocktails. Hours: Monday-Thursday 2-7 pm, Friday 2- 8 pm.
