Mexican restaurant and bar debuts rooftop patio action in Deep Ellum

A new restaurant and bar with a patio and rooftop has opened in Deep Ellum. Called Vidorra, it's the newest hang from Milkshake Concepts, the hospitality group behind Stirr and Citizen, and is open at 2642 Main St.
The location was most recently home to The Ruby Room, a short-lived bar, and prior to that, a sketchy spot called Club Hush. The space is notable for its broad rooftop patio with unfettered views of the surroundings and downtown Dallas.
Vidorra, which means "the good life," plans to serve food with bold and exciting Mexican flavors, plus a large selection of tequila, unique cocktails, and a lively social experience.
Milkshake co-owner Imran Sheikh says in a release that they love being part of Deep Ellum and are happy to bring something new and unique to the neighborhood.
"From the dining room to the ground-floor patio and rooftop – our concept was built to be a beautiful and energetic yet approachable space for Dallas," Sheikh says.
The menu includes shareable appetizers, soups, salads, tacos, and entrées. Appetizers include the flaming fundido with melted Oaxaca cheese served in a 400-degree Molcajete dish that includes four topping options served with tortillas. Crusted tuna salpicon has seared crusted coriander tuna, fresh mango, pickled cucumbers, avocado, cilantro, sriracha, and cilantro Cojita crema.
A selection of street tacos includes fried avocado tacos with panko breaded avocado, pico de gallo, ancho slaw, Cotija cheese and Southwestern crema. Poblano chorizo tacos have sliced chorizo, onions, poblano peppers, cilantro, and Cotija sauce.
Entrées include a rib eye, wood-fired paprika ribs, and guajillo smoked chicken. There are also fajitas in multiple sizes, featuring up to five protein options, and served family style on a sizzling platter.
There are 20 crafted cocktails and margaritas including the Guadalajaran with Casamigos Mezcal, Cazadores Reposado, pineapple juice, citrus and Squirt, served in a traditional glass and available in large format; and the Effen Horn with Effen Vodka, Hornitos Silver Tequila, St. Elder, lemon, agave nectar, cucumber and spearmint.
Tequila is big: There are four tequila flight options; numerous margaritas including frozen; and a bottle Patrón en Lalique, one of only eight bottles available in the United States, available for $1,000 a glass. Select cocktails are also available in large format for a convivial social experience.
The space covers 10,000 square feet and offers three distinct areas — dining room, ground-floor patio, and rooftop patio — exhibiting a modern, elegant Mexican style. Both patios overlook the Dallas skyline, and feature a state-of-the-art roof that opens and closes.
