Dallas hummus pioneers open new Mediterranean restaurant in Plano
The foodie remix going on at The Shops at Willow Bend, the upscale mall in Plano, celebrates a new restaurant opening: Terra Mediterranean, the concept from restaurateur brothers Jalal Chanaa and Adam Shanaa, opens a new location at the upscale mall.
This is the third location of Terra, following the original in Fort Worth and another in Irving.
Adam and Jalal are well known in hummus circles for Ali Baba, the popular restaurant they opened on Greenville Avenue in Dallas in 1989.
In 2010, they expanded to Fort Worth with their new concept, Terra Mediterranean Grill. They kept the practice of fresh and delicious food and paired it with a new stylish décor and name.
Terra Mediterranean at West 7th has been one of the only success stories, surviving in a strip that has seen one closure after another.
In 2013, the brothers converted their Irving location of Ali Baba to Terra Mediterranean. No more Ali Baba.
Regardless of what you call it, the menu includes kabobs, hummus, salads, moussaka, and gyros. They do a lunch buffet with traditional Mediterranean favorites during the day. At dinner, they feature specialty items such as grilled sea bass, lamb chops, and oven-roasted trout.
According to a release, they'll offer a new happy hour menu at the new location weeknights from 5-7 pm, with a select menu of bar foods and discounts on beer, wine, sangria, and mojitos.
The location is 6,800 square feet and features two patio areas, one upstairs one down, and a large lounge area upstairs that can be used for events.
Terra Mediterranean rounds out the international flavors at The Shops at Willow Bend's new restaurant district, along with John Tesar's Knife, Mexican Bar Company Cocina, Whistle Britches, and Ascension coffee shop.
