The April edition of Where to Drink, CultureMap's monthly tally of happy hours and great cocktails, has four happy hour specials and one bar with extremely limited hours doing some serious cocktails.
Here's where to drink in Dallas right now:
Branca Room
Oak Cliff bar and speakeasy has a new cocktail menu created by James Slater and Brian O'Malley with a dozen epic entries. Consider the Order of Owls: with Racho Joven Mezcal, Amaris Espadin Mezcal, orange and Peychaud's bitters, tobacco & vanilla bitters, and kumquats. Most are around $16 but there is one $26 drink called Amaro Transfusion which contains Pasubio Vino Amaro, Six Grapes port, aloe, Carpano vermouth, and Penelope bourbon. They're only open Thursday-Saturday nights.
The Finch
Mockingbird Station restaurant has a new drink & happy hour selection with cocktails for $9 and mocktails such as a blackberrry lavender lemonade for $7. Mini Martini Singles are $8 all day or a flight of three for $12 in flavors such as Pom-tini, Appletini, and Classic Martini. Monday-Friday from 3-6 pm.
Indochine Bistro
Recently-opened Vietnamese restaurant on Oak Lawn Avenue has an expansive new Happy Hour menu, available Tuesday-Sunday from 3-7 pm, with bottled beer for $3 and exotic cocktails for $7 such as The Moon with mezcal, ginger, and Campari. There's also a long HH food menu to match featuring summer rolls, beef dumplings, and wings for $7; baby back ribs, chicken satay, and Lao saugage for $8; plus entees such as orange chicken for $13.
Locals Lounge
Lounge next door to Locals Craft Beer and Fine Wine in Farmers Branch recently unveiled a new menu with drinks such as the Aviation with gin and Creme de Violette. Happy hour deals include Tequila Tuesday with $2 off all tequila or mezcal options, along with specials on El Grito Lager and Modelo; Wine Down Wednesday with half price bottles and glasses of wine; Thursday classic cocktails, well-only, for $6; and Fridays $2 off all menu cocktails.
The Metropolitan on Main
Longtime downtown diner recently celebrated a reopening under new ownership, a triumph on its own, but also with something new: a full bar. And when you have a full bar, that invariably means happy hour. They're hosting it Monday-Friday from 4-7 pm with $7 house martinis, $5 wells, $4 domestic beer, $13 signature cocktails, and $10 spritzers.
