YP Power Party
Fun-loving DMA Junior Associates show new members how it's done
The Dallas Museum of Art was the place to be Friday night, when the Junior Associates, led by co-chairs Robert W. Ivey and Veronica Roper, welcomed more than 400 supporters to its 23rd annual Curators’ Choice recruitment party.
After membership committee co-chairs Carolyn Chinn and Alex Baker welcomed all the newbies in the house, guests split off into groups for intimate gallery tours led by museum staff. Several local artists — including Meg Fitzpatrick, Brandon Kennedy, Arthur Pena, Ryder Richards, Greg Ruppe and Lucia Simek — made appearances during this special evening, which is always a treat for these art lovers.
Following the tours, attendees — including Paige Westhoff, Ricky Grunden, Lindsay and Ray Ballotta, Andrea and Heath Cheek, and Nina and Decker Sachse — headed over to the atrium, where they mixed, mingled, nibbled and imbibed while DJ Mark Seebaran mixed beats to keep the party bumpin’.
Another favorite was the Longhorn Photo Booth sponsored by CultureMap, where Junior Associates showed off their wild sides with a bunch of creative props. What did we ever do at parties before digital photo booths became so popular?
Established in 1990, the Junior Associates of the Dallas Museum of Art is one of the largest and most active young museum member groups in the country. Its mission is to foster the understanding of the museum’s goals and structure through educational and social activities and events, including its annual fundraising gala, An Affair of the Art.
